The Karlins were sold out!

...by their grandmother?! (see below)

A trio of pleasant-looking ladies. Nice, simple, eye-catching cover. Great colors!

Here's the back, with the [possible] selling out evidence in the upper left corner...

See? Nan?! That has to be slang for grandmother! How could she? Haha. ;)

This is actually the most info I could find on them. :/ There's more info at IMDb about their film/TV career (here), but nothing biographical.

Cuties. :)

  1. Yeah very good. Mentions nothing about the rest of the band..... two males, one of which is my Father!

    1. Well, before I found this LP, I'd never heard of them, to be honest. And nowhere on the album does it mention anything about their band or that they even have one (no pictures, no notes on personnel, no liner notes, nothing...), so I don't know how I was supposed to mention your father. ;) But it's nice that someone like you saw this.

    2. Yes Anonymous, we (Shirley and Johnny) were with the same agency, 'West One Entertainments' in the mid to late 60's and there were two guys with them. We worked with them a number of times during that period including a Summer season in Brighton in 1968 with Dick Emery and The Baron Knights. By that time the two guys had 'gone'. We lost touch soon after that as we left EMI and signed to Mercury records. I would love to hear from them.

    3. Thanks for the info, Johnny. It would be nice if more info would come to light, especially considering how popular they were at one time. (and "Anonymous" could've at least given some info, such as the name of his/her father! :p)

  2. I was onboard the QE2 in 1972 and the Karlins were singing on there then. Very good act and very popular. I still have an autographed photo of them in the study somewhere!! Jo Welch

  3. Sadly Linda died last year http://www.scotsman.com/news/obituaries/obituary-linda-winchester-harrison-singer-with-the-karlins-1-4321090
They were my mum's cousins, though I only met them a couple of times including once when they were appearing in the Stanley Baxter show at the Kings Theatre in Edinburgh and they took us round backstage!

    1. Thanks for the info, Jill. Always nice to hear more about them, even if it's partly sad, as in this case. I think I should update the post, as I'm sure I could find something more by now. Should probably redo the pictures as well, especially seeing as this is one of the more popular entries.

  4. Yes, I knew about Linda, such sad news. Any chance you can put me in touch with either Elaine or Evelyn? I would love to hear from them and send my condolences. Also, Emmett Hennessy, who was in the group for a while, would like to be in touch. Message me via Facebook. Regards Johnny Wheeler.
