Fingers and Pee Wee

Fun cover for a couple of funloving ragtime players, Joe "Fingers" Carr on piano and "Pee Wee" Hunt on trombone. (that's Fingers driving and Pee Wee sitting beside him) Here's an example of their style: "Hard Hearted Hannah" (1956)

More info on Joe Carr (stage name)

And more info on Pee Wee Hunt.

Newfie jokes

Literally. ;)

This is definitely the sort of album you won't find just anywhere. (there probably aren't a plethora of them in Japan, for instance...) I have an aunt who grew up in Newfoundland. I wonder if she knows who he is.

Here's some more info on "Uncle Al". (nothing at YouTube, unfortunately)

Now I just need a Jimmy the Janitor album! :)

UPDATE! I found this videotape at a Goodwill on April 12...

Should be fun to watch, b'ys! :)

UPDATE June 23, 2019: I've posted a second Al Clouston album.

Wonder how this would fly today...

Sally[berry] Field[s] Forever!

Fun (and, let's face it, silly) album featuring Sally singing songs from the show.

Here are the liner notes, as borrowed from the Stax o' Wax blog:

Sally Field is many things, including a typical American girl and a marvelous young actress; but she never, in her wildest dreams, thought that she would become a singer. Strangely enough, for many years Sally has had a secret longing to "...sing in a musical, either a movie or on Broadway." And seeing that Julie Andrews is Sally's personal "idol," it's not a bit surprising that she aspired to become a singer. Usually the dream and the reality are millions of miles apart. But, after listening to this album, I'm sure you'll agree, Sally's off to a flying start.

And here's the opening of the show, for your viewing pleasure. More info on Sally herself here.

Taco Swell

Ah, Taco. What an interesting, retro-music-loving guy. We know him mostly for his hit cover of "Puttin' on the Ritz", but he continued to be much more successful in Germany, where he has resided for quite some time. He and Hasselhoff have that market locked up. Heh. ;) More info on him here.

See his biggest hit, "Puttin' on the Ritz" (uncensored version) here:

Double the Heintje, double the...something

Well, this kid was quite the sensation! I've seen quite a few of his records around. A friend of mine grew up listening to him, too. (though possibly not by choice, from the way he says it) The Los Angeles Times once called him "the hottest property in Europe"! :o Not my kind of music, necessarily, but I am very impressed by him! :) Here's some more info.

Here's a link to his first hit, "Mama". And a link to an English hit, "I'm Your Little Boy" (what a powerful voice!).
