Made for the Quebec market, perhaps? Or just a French release in general?
I love vinyl records, especially when I get them cheap as free at thrift stores. Heh heh. This blog will showcase some of the funny and bizarre stuff I've found. (and the occasional just plain cool ones) It also highlights the fashions of the time. Hope you get a kick out of them! Featured at Retrospace! :)

Canada Day post?
Since it's Canada Day (which is supposed to be about commemorating the joining of several provinces to some blah blah whatever, but it's really just copying July 4th, I figure, just like they copied Thanksgiving, right...?), why not a Canada-centric post? Gotta find something really Canadian...
*searching*
Ok, here!
Ok, not the most fascinating subject, but certainly Canadian! ;) Nice simple, well-designed cover.
A sad note at the end about caller Ernie Levesque. And now I'm wondering if my old friend (and boss) Des, who himself was a caller for square and ballroom line dancing for decades, would've known of Ernie, but I can't ask him, as he died quite a few years ago himself. :/ I'll have to ask his wife sometime. I'm sure they met many people in the field over the years.
I wouldn't say that square dancing is really my thing, but there's no denying the skill and cooperation involved! When you so real pros doing it, it's almost as good as any other form of synchronized dancing and fun to watch. I'd even liken it to my favorite form of motorsport, rally racing, where the driver is the dancer and the co-driver is the caller. ;) When they're really in sync, good things happen.

Sesame Street 2
You know it's old when Mr. Hooper is featured. Took a long time before I ran across this one.
Did anyone else view the Muppets as an entirely different entity? I mean, I always knew they were the same thing made by the same person/people, but since we didn't really see the Sesame Street and Muppets characters together... I dunno, I was little, leave me alone. ;)
More of that nice art style in the gatefold.
Punch-out signs, "Monster"? (no Cookie?) I don't think I have those.

Still a woman?
I presume she still is one.
Always interesting to see these non-compilation K-tel records. Pre-research, I figured Sandy was a Canadian singer getting her break on the major-label-but-not-really-major-label K-tel, but nope, way off! She's an accomplished American songer and her first album was "Born a Woman"...in 1966! I'm guessing K-tel got the rights to it and released it in 1982 with a current picture and some newer songs. More info on this album here.
And here's her hit, Born a Woman:
Seems very familiar! It's like a Women's Lib anthem! :o

Nice back!
The title is an inside joke. Pay it no mind. On with the post!
You've done it again, George old boy! She reminds me of someone, but I'm not sure who. As nice as this cover is, I don't think any will beat George's "Black Satin", which is just perfect.
I'll have to look up Latin Escapade.
A nice Latin-styled drawing from the back cover. I like it a lot!

Faster?
No, just a regular Pussycat.
The three girls are sisters, of the Kowalczyk variety.
Here's their hit "Mississippi", which went to #1 on the UK Singles Chart in October 1976! (it also went to #1 in 7 other areas/countries)
Really nice song! I was expecting more of a disco/pop vibe from them, judging by the front cover, but here we have some...how would you say it?...smooth country? :)

Mmm...rock sandwich
Looks like a promo copy or something, which is kind of a shame, but oh well. I think I saw the back cover first, but the front would've been an eye-catcher too! :) An AllMusic reviewer thinks the bacon is raw, but...isn't it just thick, or a type they're not familiar with? Looks like maybe it's back bacon or peameal, which is lighter anyway, so...? I dunno, I'm no bacon expert. What say ye?
Looks like caraway rye, which is an excellent choice!
