That's a good lookin' cover, I tell you what!
Very plain back cover, as expected.
Quite a variety of big hits and a few I've never heard of. Peter Brown? Prism? (thought that was a religious outfit) Doucette? (Ah yes, Jerry Doucette. Funnily enough, the next album in my picture folder is by a Gerry Doucette!)
My family made a decision to order a K-Tel record back in the 70's.For us,a small town family who shopped in -town at Furlow's 5 & 10 or John's Bargain Store, this was a big deal. When we recieved it, we all sat in the den, where the only"Hi-Fi"system in the household resided, and listened to it together.I don't remember the title of the album, but it featured "Smokin in the Boy's Room" "Spiders and Snakes" by Jim Stafford, and"Little Willy" by The Sweet. It also featured a song by Lighthouse,I believe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the story! Yeah, I can imagine it was a bigger deal for some people than others, as some things are always more accessible to some people than others. They really were a great way of getting a bunch of current hits all together. There were record clubs, but K-tel seemed to have a bit more purpose in the way they put things together.
