Jane Fonda's biggest claim to fame?

Jane Fonda is known for many things; acting, charity work, having been married to Ted Turner, etc...but to many, this is her most famous work.

Seriously, this was mega-huge!

I see one of the songs is "Megatron Man" by Patrick Cowley. Has nothing to do with Transformers. ;) It's an electronic dance number from 1981. Give it a spin...

This album also has a gatefold. Not too creative, though, compared with the back cover image.

Monday Night Fussball

No idea who any of them are, but I appreciate that they printed their names under their signatures anyway. It can be so hard to tell who wrote what sometimes.

Obviously an import. Lots of older German and Polish people living around here and I see stuff like this all the time.

Anyway, this is my first post using the new version of Blogger and...yeah, not liking it. Especially annoying for a picture-heavy blog, because the quality of the picture has most definitely dropped from the original, much like at Facebook, which also compresses or something. Plus, the options that used to pop up after posting a picture have changed too. You used to be able to select 'original size' before, but now, it's just 'increase' or 'decrease.' Seems like it doesn't get it right no matter what you do. :/

Oh, and the new label system is super annoying and slow too.

P.S. I reverted back to the "Legacy" version and re-upped the pictures, which look the way they're supposed to now.

The Lyttletones

Nice looking guitars there. Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentlem[e]n, perhaps?

Bigtime hype! This better be the best music anyone has ever heard, Mr. Fisher! ;)

That's around 1.5 hours from where I grew up. Passed through many times on the way to Saint John.

Melveen Loves Hawaii

I love Hawaii too...from afar, anyway.

Aloha pumehana basically means 'warm/warm-hearted greetings,' but Google translates it as 'good job.' Haha. :p

Beautiful lady from the beautiful islands. :)

Here's the title track...

'Good job,' Melveen. ;)

Dr. Seuss and...Lionel Barrymore?

Simple, catchy cover for a story I...don't know. :p Never did have any Dr. Seuss books. My mother decided to get me some other series, while every other kid had Seuss. Took me a while to think of it, but the series we had was Sweet Pickles.

Anyway, an interesting way to fill the record by having Barrymore on the other side. I should dig it out to hear his iconic voice. :)

More fun stuff. :)

Graffiti, American Style

Pretty cool gatefold cover. I usually just do the front cover half by itself, but I guess I decided to just open it this time, as it's the only cover photo I have. Notice it says Ronny Howard rather than Ron. ;)

Of course, it's a gatefold inside as well, but just writing and info on the right.

I haven't seen the movie for many years. Forgot that Suzanne Somers is in it.

Allo, Allo!

As always, I don't expect these regional—and especially French Canadian—albums to draw much attention compared to most, but I always hope someone will find it and maybe have a story or memory about the performer. :)

The last of the prettiness

Hot on the proverbial heels of the last post, here's the last of the Sylvia albums I have.

I know a Sylvia. She doesn't look like that.

Not much thought put into this. 'Swivel to your left and look to your right.' Oh well, still nice. ;)

I'm guessing the fan club of your favorite background voice is no longer operational. How cool would it be if it is, though? :)

Let's conclude our Sylvia trilogy by looking at her biggest hit, the pop/country crossover (back when that was acceptable) "Nobody", which opens this album...

And here she is being interviewed by Dick Clark...

And here she accepts her 1983 ACM Award for Top Female Vocalist...

Still pretty

N'est-ce pas?

This post's title is in reference to the first Sylvia album I posted. (and notice in the credits here, she is still listed only as a "background voice")

I may have a third Sylvia album, so stay tuned.

*shaking my fist*

Dedicated to the stupid drunken losers* whooping it up in Florida for Spring Break this year.

But really, other than at some upper crust snobby college or something, this practice is deader than a dead doornail, right? I mean, why sing together when you can just jump around and vomit along with some meth-addicted DJ with a laptop?

*more stupid than usual, that is...

Harmonium

Don't need to think up a funny/cool post title when the band's name is cool enough.

One of the cooler albums I have. Prog rock/folk, not surprisingly.

Cool that you have to open it to know what it is.

Yep, another glorious gatefold. :)

Here's a little info from their Wiki article: "Their second album Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison, better known as Les Cinq saisons, was an immediate success. This concept album included five songs, each one representing a season with the last song being a long instrumental representing a fifth and imaginary season. For this album, the band recruited two new members, Pierre Daigneault, playing the flutes, sax, and clarinets and Serge Locat, handling the piano and synthesizer. The group also invited two guests to play on the sessions: Judi Richards, who handles the vocalizations on the instrumental "Histoires sans paroles" and Marie Bernard performing the theremin-like sounds of the Martenot waves. In 2015, Rolling Stone magazine listed this album at number 36 of the best 50 progressive rock album and declared it the best progressive folk album."

Here's a short National Film Board doc about them touring in California...

Not just any London Bobby...

...but rather, THE London Bobby.

54 songs for 25 cents? What a deal!

Let's take a close look...

As usual, a few titles that are familiar, maybe some I've heard in passing.

Not sure I've heard Sweet Georgia Brown with vocals. I presume it's not an instrumental.

Hmm, bit of an unfortunate title here.

'ello, guv!

Not a lot of info on London Bobby, but here's his Facebook page, and a site that's apparently a place to get info for the purpose of hiring artists to perform, in which Bobby has a page.

Glorious Gloria

As Kevin Malone would say, "nnnnice!"

I didn't realize, but she was married to Alan Thicke for a long time, himself quite the songmaker. Her mother was also a singer and her father played trumpet for Tommy Dorsey. Not only has she had a long, successful singing career, but she is an actress as well.

Here's her biggest hit, and the opener to this album, "Friends & Lovers", a duet with Carl Anderson...

Not really my thing, but she has a sweet voice!
