Mini bikin' again

I've posted about Showdown before. I shall now do so again.

Amusing cover again, though not quite as interesting as the other one, I reckon.

They must really be proud of The Rodeo Song, because there it is again.

Classic. :)

Abbe Lane is in my ears again!

Not the variation of the album I posted before that I was thinking of, but it is a [very slight] variation, so why not gaze upon the majesticness of Abbe Lane again?

The color is a little more natural on this one and there is slighty different wording on the banner, which is on top rather than at the bottom on this version. It's a more traditional look for sure, but the banner at the bottom version shows more of Abbe in the left and middle images.

See above comments.

The Return of The Sounds of Love Lady

I've posted about her before, and now here she is again...

As you can see, this is the top half image of the gatefold in the other post. Big thanks to Pat Corbett for writing his/her name on there twice.

My brother is visiting Paris for the first time soon. I wonder how often this sort of music can even be heard over there nowadays outside of special clubs and whatnot.

Peter Dunn's Vinyl Museum

Following up from the last post, this is the unique sleeve that the Dorothy Lamour album came in...

At first, I thought 'oh cool, something more than the usual brown/white paper sleeve with a cartoon cat on it.' But then I noticed all the text everywhere...

I'll have to add a sticker like that on my record player too. Heh. :)

This post has a nice little history of Peter Dunn and his vinyl history, including links to a couple of videos involving the stores. Another good post here. Given how many are out there, and how many Toronto albums I see here, I'm surpised it took me this long to see one.

Funny/sad how nowadays, a record store like this could thrive in certain locations, especially given their apparent huge selection and low prices, but in the late 90s/early 00s, they were shutting down everywhere. It's possible I saw one of the Museum locations, especially the 355 Yonge St. one, as it was close to Sam's and HMV, but I have no memory of it.

Stay Tuned!

I say stay tuned because, while I almost didn't get this one for some reason, I'm glad I did because of the sleeve the record came in! I'll be posting that soon after this.

Dorothy Lamour was a prolific actress and singer, but mostly known for appearing with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in their series of 'Road to...' movies, hence the title of this album and little dedication on the front cover. :)

This one is from 1957, when her movie career was winding down (1952's Road to Bali having basically been her triumphant swan song), but her nightclub and theater career was revving up.

P.S. Here's a sneaky sneak preview of the sleeve I mentioned...
