Shouldn't that be Tahiti? I looked up Tihati and seeing that most of the results lead to a company called Tihati Productions, I'm thinking maybe this was a typo. Hmm...
The life of the party! :)
I love vinyl records, especially when I get them cheap as free at thrift stores. Heh heh. This blog will showcase some of the funny and bizarre stuff I've found. (and the occasional just plain cool ones) It also highlights the fashions of the time. Hope you get a kick out of them! Featured at Retrospace! :)
I'm dressing up for Halloween as that guy. (That is a guy, right?)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I hope so! :p
DeleteThat guy is in Maori costume. This looks like some 1970's dinner theatre thing, but the spear is called a taiaha, the tattoo is a moko and the tongue poking is called a poukana (Which is an intimidation technique). Its part of a ceremony called a wero, used at meetings and feasts. The warrior will adopt the pose, whilst laying down a fern as a gauntlet. Pick it up and its peace, his demeanor changes, however in the past if you did not, it was a declaration of war. I know this as its my native people, the Maori of New Zealand.
